Grayson Kennedy
Character Award

Character defines who we are. A strong character is built of integrity, kindness, generosity and compassion for others and is used as a moral compass to do what’s right and for staying true to who you are.

Grayson played football for Camas High School, and in partnership with the football coaches, the Grayson Kennedy Character Award was created to honor his legacy. Our family is deeply touched that the coaches held Grayson in such high regard and worked with us to establish this meaningful award in his name.

Grayson was known for his positivity, kindness, and unwavering support for others. He was a natural leader who lifted up everyone around him—especially those who were overlooked or considered underdogs. As a friend to all, Grayson’s ability to inspire and encourage his teammates left a lasting impression. While our family always recognized these qualities in him, hearing how much they impacted his teammates and community has been both heartwarming and affirming.

Each year, the recipient of the Grayson Kennedy Character Award is recognized for embodying these same values of leadership, kindness, and inclusivity. The honoree receives a gift certificate, a personal award, and their name engraved on a plaque that hangs proudly in the CHS weight room, ensuring that Grayson’s legacy of character continues to inspire future athletes for years to come.

Jaxon is described as selfless, committed, passionate, and an excellent student. Above all, as one coach remarked, ‘In a world focused on the end result and personal gain, Jaxon embraces the journey, the friendships, and all the joys that come with it.’

Despite facing challenging injuries, Cole demonstrated unwavering perseverance, maintaining a positive attitude and inspiring those around him. His ability to uplift teammates and lead by example highlights his commitment not only to the game but to fostering a supportive and unified team environment.

2022 Recipient

Grady Milholen, 11th grade

Grady, the inaugural recipient of the Grayson Kennedy Character Award in 2022, was recognized by the football coaches as a true embodiment of leadership, dedication, and integrity. They described him as ‘the first to show up, the last to leave, and a friend to everyone—a class act at all times.’ Grady led by example and through his words, radiating positivity and stepping up selflessly by learning a new position for the betterment of the team. His commitment extended beyond the game, as shown when he was spotted cleaning the locker room after a home game, long after everyone else had left. This simple yet profound act reflects the high character and humility of a player who puts others first and embraces responsibility in every aspect of life.
